About: Born and raised in California, I have enjoyed creating, painting, and sketching from a young age. I furthered my creative endeavors at the University of California Davis where I earned a Design degree. During college I studied Art History in Florence, Italy and completed an internship with the fashion designer Nanette Lepore in New York. After college I moved to Seattle where I was employed at Tommy Bahama assisting in men’s design as well as dabbling in costume designing for local theater companies. I continued my Northwest adventure by moving to Portland, Oregon and established my business. I quickly fell in love and at home with the Northwest culture and creativity. Why do I manufacture Internationally? It’s a pretty simple explanation. My first memorable adventure when I was young was a family vacation to Denpasar, Indonesia. The beauty of the culture, the warmness of the people, the bright colors and textiles, along with the lovely scenery captivated me. This trip left a lasting impression on my family and myself. In 2007, my parents traveled back to Denpasar, Indonesia and while they were there, they discovered a small, woman owned clothing manufacturer. I was encouraged to send some of my designs to be manufactured and my partnership aboard began. I am proud to support a business in a country that holds such wonderful lasting memories for me and produces such beautiful textiles. I sketch, color, and create technical design packs for my overseas partner along with original print layouts. I utilize fabric books to determine which fabric would work best with the fabric. I determine the fabric color through color swatches or develop new dye to match colors. I order initial designs to size and to prototype. If items need to be tweaked or altered, I share the feedback and work to correct the issues prior to full size run orders. |
